IAT Completes Prototype Design of an Advanced Chem / Bio Sensor

Innovative American Technology (IAT) has completed the prototype design of an advanced chemical and biological sensor system based on a micro-electro-mechanical-sensor (MEMS) using a proprietary piezoelectric micro-cantilever and novel optical system design. This Advanced Chemical and Biological (ACB) sensor is planned for support of homeland security, military, agricultural and medical applications.

Homeland Security Applications

After four years of development and testing, IAT has created the ACB sensor to provide rapid field analysis and an automated sample preparation system. The ACB can operate as a homeland security module where no consumables are required. The ACB supports applications such as air monitoring in subways, airports, large buildings and other important infrastructures. The ACB is a near real time sensor that can be deployed as a network element. The ACB can be configured as a handheld or an installed fixture supporting a wide range of homeland security applications. The ACB will also be configured for water quality analysis for chemical and biological contaminants.

Medical and Agricultural Applications

The ACB will be configured for tissue, breath and bodily fluid analysis. We have plans to create a wide variety of medical agricultural applications for this exciting new capability.

Availability

The ACB prototype should be available in the first quarter of 2009 to begin testing in preparation for a variety of applications. The ACB will take full advantage of the IAT Chemical, Biological, Radiation, Nuclear and Explosives (CBRNE) sensor system platform. The CBRNE sensor interface unit, distributed sensor network, data collection and analysis systems have already bee proven through the development, testing and independent verification of the IAT Radiation Threat Identification System (RTIS). The RTIS system represents the RN portion of the CBRNE system.
