IAT International Patent filing in support of Radiation
Threat Identification System Receives Positive Opinion From PCT
- Supporting All Patent Claims
Published: 25 September 2008
The IAT international patent filing under the Patent
Cooperation Treaty (PCT) received full support on all 26
claims submitted. The Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT)
is an international patent law treaty, concluded in 1970. It
provides a unified procedure for filing international patent
applications for each of its Contracting States . A patent
application filed under the PCT is called an international
application or PCT application.
The IAT PCT filing was submitted to the Receiving Office (RO)
in 2007. A search was performed by the
International Searching Authority (ISA), that resulted in a
positive written opinion supporting the patentability of the IAT radiation
threat identification system.
The PCT written opinion is used in the patent grant
procedures by each of the selected national or regional
authorities. An international patent application (also called
PCT application, as mentioned above) has two phases: 1) The
first phase of the IAT international patent application process
has been completed and met with full approval of the PCT across
all 26 claims submitted. 2) The second phase is the national and
regional phase which is currently underway.
